Trust / Product selection

Selection follows the decision, not the commission.

Products are selected because they help answer a real travel decision, not simply because a merchant offers commission. A product can remain a private candidate, become a public research page, or advance toward hands-on evaluation.

01

What makes a useful candidate

  • Clear relevance to a defined travel problem or category.
  • An exact purchasable variant with enough primary-source evidence to normalize.
  • Meaningful comparison value against products already in the catalog.
  • Real official imagery with recorded provenance and a defensible editorial-use basis.
  • Availability in a market Travistello can describe accurately.
02

Publication stages

  • Candidate: internal record only, with unresolved evidence or media gates.
  • Research preview: public facts and imagery, with scoring still incomplete.
  • Published research: normalized specs, evidence, limitations, and a versioned scorecard.
  • Hands-on or hybrid: physical observations are added with their test context.
  • Pick eligible: the evidence threshold for a recommendation has been met. This is not automatic.

What does not guarantee inclusion

An affiliate program, free product, high commission, famous brand, or strong manufacturer claim does not guarantee publication or recommendation.
